Happy 2021 to our members, friends, and family! Lakeside Pride welcomes a fresh start in this new year, with renewed optimism for better times ahead. While we acknowledge we have a long way to go, news of the vaccination process has brought us hope that this dark chapter of our lives will soon be turned.

However, as COVID cases continue to rise and hit daily records, Lakeside Pride will continue to remain cautious in preventing the spread further. At this time, rehearsing in-person is not advised. We do encourage you to safely check-in with your fellow members and share in the community experience that Lakeside Pride offers both in-and-out of rehearsal.

Though we may not be meeting in-person, Lakeside Pride has been working diligently to keep our members active and our organization running smoothly as we navigate this pandemic. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Virtual Performances

  • In December, Lakeside Pride hosted 8-Bit Wonderland, an impressive virtual performance featuring several of our primary and chamber ensembles. In case you weren't able to join us but would still like to watch our concert, check out the recording HERE.
  • Our Symphonic Band maintained its annual tradition of performing The Nutcracker, though this time virtually, and were joined by many musicians from outside of Lakeside Pride.
  • Several Lakeside Pride members also provided their instrumental talents to Let There Be Light, a virtual concert hosted by our partner organization Windy City Gay Chorus.

Keep an eye out for news from Lakeside Pride for our upcoming virtual performances and other thrilling experiences!

LGBA 2022

In other exciting news, Lakeside Pride’s bid to host the 2022 LGBA Annual Conference has been accepted, and our team has been busy planning for an amazing event. As a founding member of the Lesbian Gay Band Association, an international collection of LGBTQ bands, Lakeside Pride is honored to bring musicians from across the world to the shores of Lake Michigan for LGBA’s 40th anniversary celebration. More details to come, but mark your calendars to be in Chicago Memorial Day Weekend 2022 to be part of this historic event!

We know these months apart have been difficult, but Lakeside Pride is optimistic that our family will be able to safely reunite in 2021. Until then, we hope you join us in future virtual events, meet online with your band family, and continue to stay safe as we get through this together.

With much love,
